November 2022...Thank You With a Challenge

THANK YOU WITH A CHALLENGE...

Thank you to all who participated in our annual meeting.  Calvin Whitman and James Reamer did a wonderful job of interpreting our theme, "The Urgency of the Gospel".  David Lee's sermon was right on target.  A word straight from God.  The reports were right on target as well.  Our association is back from the pandemic show down to full capacity.  Life Baptist Church did a wonderful job of hosting, good food, good music, great support, and a wonderful spirit.  All in all, it was a great celebration of what the Lord has done in Southern Nevada and a challenge to continue the work.

A personal thank you for the recognition of my 30th anniversary as your missionary.  It was a surprise; I did not expect it.  Thank you.  I came to Southern Nevada in May 1979 to serve a local church.  A great challenge and an honor to serve God.  After many years in the local church God called me to be your missionary.  On December 15, 1992, I was appointed by the Home Mission Board of the Southern Nevada Baptist Convention to be a home missionary.  I began serving the SNBA on January 1, 1993.  It is an honor to continue to serve you.  God’s call has kept me to the task.  Thank you for your support.

I wish I could say we have finished the task.  However, there is still much work to be done.  We have over 2 million people in our area who have not accepted Jesus as their Savior, therefore they are already condemned.  They need to hear the gospel.  They need to be saved.  Each day the urgency grows.  We must be about sharing the good news.  Salvation is a personal decision; each person must choose for themselves.  Our job is to share the good news.  Salvation is a personal decision; each person must choose for themselves.  Our job is to share the good news.  Statistics show that 85%  of Christians came to Christ because of an invitation from a friend.  Be a friend, share Jesus with your associates.

Our last challenge:  Our city needs more churches.  Our numbers and locations of churches has not kept up with growth.  We have 16 language groups of over 2,000 residents that still do not have a church in their language.  We have 26 zip codes with a population of 806, 484 that do not have a Southern Baptist Church.  Our baptisms are down.  We need to reverse the trend of lower baptisms.  One way to do that is to start church in these needful areas.
