April 2026

In 1845 Southern Baptist organized as a Mission Sending organization.  They had one purpose: the Great Commission.  Southern Baptist were people of the Word who believed that they were called to take the gospel to the lost world.  We won them to Christ one person at a time.  Each making their own choice.

Our worship services were filled with the gospel.  We sang those old revival songs: Are You Washed in the Blood; Nothing but the Blood of Jesus; Jesus Paid It All; There is Power in the Blood and the Blood Never Loses Its Power.  We were evangelistic in our music, our testimony, and our sermons.  We became the largest Protestation denomination by preaching the gospel.  The gospel is still the same.  The lost are still destined for hell.  We must keep at the task of sharing the good news with all of those we encounter.  Joining us in our effort to reach the world for Christ are these new pastors:

Dr. Shelby Yanaga is the new pastor of Redrock Baptist Church.  He is a graduate of Southwestern Seminary.  (Shelby is from Hawaii)

Elder Trintion Holmes is the new pastor of Gethsemani Missionary Baptist Church.  He is a graduate of Grand Canyon University and a lifelong resident of Las Vegas.

Dr. Tim Steele is the new Interim Pastor at First Baptist Church, Mesquite.  He has been a church planter, and a pastor; he comes to Nevada from Michigan.

Captain Burrell is the new Pastor of Frontier Southern Baptist Church.  He is a long-term member of the church and has served as the Interim since Pastor Barnes had a stroke. He was installed as the Pastor recently.
